I'd like to know anyone's experience or knowledge with these. Heard a while back that they can be problematic and can get really hot. Is there an updated version with safer parts? I saw what looks like the same thing on eBay and Summit for around $15. Thanks guys

They get hot as far door remains opened, yes, but that's not a problem aside a sooner failure. Turning flashers get hot too.

What I do is remove it if I'm gonna work on my car with door opened for long time needing power for some reason. Same about dome light to preserve the dome lense.

That WELLS piece is the regular replacement. I bet cheaper at Rockauto or similar parts shop ( althought thats free shipping, but Rockauto shipping price are accordling with their good prices ). No other replacement with modern inners as far I know.

$11.05 at Rockauto and $11.95 at autozone, so more less the same! ( althought Rockauto gets 5% discounts codes easy to find searching on google LOL )

Original PN is 2889565, which floats on Rockauto as Standard Motor Products RY300 on $10.71

Their shipping quote uses to be on $2-3 for small stuff like this.

$9 at jegs LOL

( can't tell their shipping quotes thought )

Search at your Mopar parts dealer around. They should be available yet 'cause this piece was used up to lates 90s on many Jeeps

I've never had a problem with them, other than going bad after nearly 50 years, lol.  The factory used the same design for years, used to find them at the junkyard in Dodge trucks and vans with the fuse box on the left side of the dash

Once again thanks for the information Nacho! Pretty much answered all of my questions on the thermal relay. I think I took my map light and ignition light out in the first place because I heard it can cause problems and I couldn't get the door sensor grounds to work with it. I also had to splice mine back together after the last owner chopped it up. I'll put it back in if I can get it all figured out. I need to find a warning buzzer harness or make one. Think this Crown brand is a good one? Found one shipped on eBay for less than $10:

I had another question and I think I already know the answer. Will an LED work in the map light? I'm fairly certain they don't work in the glove box socket or the gear indicator on the automatic console...sorry to keep trying to pick your brain but you seem to really know your stuff!

I don't like leds on our cars, but whatever... there is a led replacement for every part of the car anyway. Some are better than others

About the thermal relay... I think it is cheaper at carparts.com link I posted and is Crown ( can't tell about the brand )... I think $8 shipped, but is just $1.5 difference with the ebay one you found if you care that difference

I'm not crazy about certain LEDs either, but if you get just the right kind of warmer ones it can look like the factory incandescent ones, just a lot brighter. I did do white in my cluster tho so the blue bulb cases show through with a blueish tint.
I went with the carparts.com relay. Thanks. I have the bad habit of defaulting to eBay when there's just a couple bucks difference just because it's two clicks but That purchase took all of two minutes on the carparts site. PayPal makes it pretty easy across the board anymore.
Here's my cluster with cool white behind the blue bulb cases built into the gauge housing, I thought it looked cool. A little modern, but much brighter.

The rest of the interior lights don't match the cluster but okay with that. These are the only ones on once the door shuts, other than the shifter indicator and the radio bezel. I've got leds in the radio bezel but couldnt get one to work in the gear indicator. Might just go back to the traditional bulbs though. I kinda like the look same as you.

I like the Paypal option and uses to be my preffered payment too but the problem is being overseas the Paypal checkout process doesn't allow me to set a diff shipping address than my registered one or a diff country. My shipping addres uses to be USA to a forward courier service not my home... except Ebay were seller gets the shipping address straight from ebay account and not from Paypal.

and about save a cent... well I try to save every cent as posible LOL ( except if that could become on a headache like deal with diff vendors instead just one for a larger package LOL )

I understand. I was wondering if you were from Venezuela because of your signature. I bet getting parts can be a royal pain. I'd love to leave the US but one of my fears is not being able to get parts  :smilielol:

well... I got some luck because my car was assembled locally ( Chrysler had an assembly plant here up to 79, they left and come back in 91 ) so I still could get some NOS parts here at old Mopar parts stores ( driver's door, front and rear valences, tail light lenses, wiper washer bottle, bumper guards etc... ) ... But stock over here is allmost done LOL

Wow that's pretty impressive. I highly doubt I could find any of those around here. Maybe up in Denver. I'm not the most resourceful person, though (which is probably obvious by now haha). That's good to hear that you can still get some of what's left!
