Has anyone ever seen a car with both?  Mine has them side-by-side - I've never seen it on another '72 before...

Thanks

They were on that way with Manual trannies only. Pretty rare to find also the seatbelt light but was a posibility. I guess you had that seatbelt light there when you didn't want the conplete lighting package what includes the map light... rest of package is ashtray light, glovebox light, fender top turn signals and lights on buzzer.

weird part here is that I'm noticing you have the map light insert ???

Anyway is just a guess.

definitely what is true is that you can find that on manual trannies cars, even not allways.

Auto trannies are seatbelt light mounted below the dash pad over the cluster, on same map light insert... and reverse light was no available on auto cars

below the dash pad, above the cluster:

you can see on that black insert also a rear speaker fader. That's the place when is optioned the rear speaker on MONO audio systems. Stereos system doesn't have that fader becasue there is already a balance knob on radio itself with front speaker as left chanel and rear speaker as right chanel.

On that inserts is also located a FASTEN SEATBELT lettering on auto cars, but is not vissible on this pic. The fasten seatbelt lettering is an integral part of insert and cars without this lettering uses a different plain insert.

On pic posted by 1972Rallye you can see the map light turned on.
