What gauge wire was used in the 69 dash harness? Looking for the dark blue wire (N) that goes to ignition 1
This wire was accidentally ripped out of the back of the bulkhead connector leaving the spade connector inside the bulkhead.

Thanks!

If you have the FSM and its electrical drawings then you can get the wire size.

J2-16DBL*

J2 I don't know what this means
16  is 16 AWG
DBL is dark blue
* means it is has a tracer stripe on the insulation.

Mich are you saying that "Ignition 1" DBL wire is really a 16 gauge wire in a '69 or just using that as an example.

I realize there is a year difference but my FSM shows 12 gauge for my '74 SE.  Hard to believe two wire size differences.  :shruggy: :shruggy:

Yeap, looked at it and it's 16.  I don't see 12 gauge till I get to the ammeter wiring.  Seems weird but that's what it was.  Now you make me want to go out and actually measure it.  So I did, and yes, it is 16AWG.

Beefing up the wires won't hurt either!  When I spruced up my dash harness upgraded all the main power wires to 12 or 10.

Priority or importance order on all circuit. If you check batt wire should be A1, then wire next in importance maybe A2 if is related with same circuit... next circuit should be B, and the first wire of this circuit, should be 1, next one 2 and goes on.

Thanks guys! now the big question..which female spade connector is the one in the bulkhead on the dash wiring harness..more to the point where would I buy one?
I used to go here http://www.rtspecialties.net/products.asp?cat=12
But without a pic I am not positive which one..I guess I could call them and ask...

Packard 56. They are sold around in many places, even maybe locally. Don't need to pay high bucks from automotive resto shop, go better to a regular electrical parts suppliers. You will get a dozen for the price of couple of resto shops.

googling will find something like this. Dunno if the best price or the best shipping quote, but just as an example, it was the first floated on on my search. I usually get deeper on searchs

https://www.repairconnector.com/packard-56-terminals-and-housings/

there are suppliers around which in fact sells the correct housings for several cars still being electrical suppliers not auto resto shops on great prices. Those housings you don't know if still are available and will pay gold on resto shops, but just by a buck on these suppliers

Thanks Nacho-RT74!
I don't know why i always automagically resort to RT Specialties and just don't try someplace like this, maybe I figured they are not the same connector?  :shruggy:

Now for the task of fixing this with the dash in the car.....  :brickwall:
