Daytona R/T SE

It's a shame the interior of the doors are painted in the exterior body color.

And the tail panel isn't painted flat black.

F8-4life

I have never seen a sale public sale of one of these cars. I would say its worth it. These are incredibly rare chargers.

hemi-hampton

Went Cheap, I'd buy this for a little more then that ugly silver 68 383 that got almost $70k :shruggy:

Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice car, but I don't see that kind of money for just a special paint color and two fender emblems. It's not dealer performance modified like a Mr. Norm or Yenko car.

But it is Dealer Modified. just not Performance Modified. Does that add zero value over a totally stock similar car not Dealer Modified? :scratchchin: :shruggy:

6bblgt

interesting LOADED Charger
it is an April '68 built car
other known "Bengals" are June '68 built

:scratchchin: wonder if this was a single ordered car for Tom Kneer & its popularity lead to 50 additional cars  :shruggy:

They would not let Tom Kneer order a single car or even a small amount. Since his orange color was not available they made a special batch of orange for him but they insisted only way they would run this special color for him was if he ordered a small fleet with a minimum order of 50 cars. LEON.

P.S. I would of guessed all 50 were sequential # all painted & ran down the line at once at same time :shruggy: :scratchchin:

Buyer might pony up a little more if the live around Cinci or is a Bengals fan. I can see $80k to the right person (not me).

So these Bengal Chargers didn't receive the blacked out tail panels?? Or a poor executed restoration??

You tell me. I can't believe that it left the factory with orange inner door panels as pointed out by Daytona RT/SE above....

Also, the inside of the front valance should have some flat black and the metal portions of the a/c lines & retaining clips would not be painted gloss black.

6bblgt

Yes, the VIN is earlier than the other known "BENGALS"

it has $2,000 worth of OPTIONs on a $3,000 car - let that sink in for a minute
not your typical lot (or fleet) car - but perfect to put on the showroom floor to draw traffic  :coolgleamA:
* speculation * maybe Tom Kneer (or Paul Brown or some other BENGALS fanatic) ordered this car & its popularity lead to the fleet order of 50 "Bengal Chargers"?

you could order a "special order paint" car, painted a fleet color "Omaha orange" it just cost money - about $60, but if you ordered 50 of them the "special order paint" charge was waived

Agreed that is feasible,  definite possibility !   seeing as this car is pretty loaded , also has wide sill mouldings like the other Bengal's too !
:popcrn:

I would have thought out of the 50 , there would of been more than three show up ...

just been searching on here cant find it as of yet , there was a 999  paint code  68 charger  that I posted in a thread years ago, think the seller was claiming  it was a Bengal  or seeing as it was orange & a 999 paint code we were all  assuming it was , was a really good resto if I remember  :scratchchin:
