So its not very often we see a second gen charger pop up for sale here in australia but this one popped up yesterday. This is the description

OI 1969 RT Charger 4spd, R6 Red (will need to be painted) black vinyl top (in VGC), stripe delete. Factory red interior but interior will need full restoration i.e. carpets, seat covers, door cards headliner etc. Runs and drives, healthy NOM but date correct 440. Fender tag, Vin tag and all body stamped numbers match. Minimal rust, chassis very clean. Many new part

Its a half done project, needs a fair bit of work, what i want to know is, is this a high price charger being an RT 4 speed car? Were many produced? He is asking decent money for it.

I think is more rare due the red interior than being a 4 speed R/T itself! Of course both deals together would make it uncommon. But that's for somebody buying it to make it per factory specs.
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Ghoste

An RT four speed car isn't exactly common but it isn't so rare that it's all that hard to find either.  (hey, I should run for public office with an answer like that)

jefferson

Thanks for the answers guys
Anything else to add id love to hear!
agreed, would love to see the charger put back to factory specs!
the hood and paint are terrible lol . Where was this for sale at before prior to coming over here to Aus. I read 2012 some saw it for sale?

Ghoste

It was in New Jersey at one time I believe.

What does the fender tag decode....

I will give the production numbers and you can decide about its' rarity.  ;)  These are rounded numbers, I have the specific numbers somewhere.

90,000 '69 Chargers built. 20,000 of those were R/T models. 3,600 of the R/T models were 4 speed cars.

So 22% of all '69 Chargers were R/T models and 4% were R/T 4 speed models.

Does 4% make it "rare"? I agree with Ghoste that it is not rare, but not common for sure. However... if you factor in the red interior and the stripe delete, then I would consider it to be a rare car.   :Twocents:

Does this make it worth more? In my opinion, it will depend on the buyer. If someone likes red inside and the no stripe option then yes. For someone who does not care for the red interior and prefers having the stripe, then it has no extra value, maybe less even?   :Twocents:
