Tried the search function, but got 19 pages of everything but undercoating.

1968 Charger.
Can someone tell me what the original undercoating was made from. Some kind of reference document would be awesome as I might need to convince the Australian Quarantine organisation that it is not made of asbestos.

Thanks

Try using Google for your search, with "site:dodgecharger.com" added to your query, like this:

what is original undercoating made of site:dodgecharger.com

Two reasons it's hard to 100% replicate the sound deadener on a resto.
The sprayers used by the factory.
The material is different.
The resto stuff is pretty good - and can look 95% if sprayed properly with many thinner coats.
To your question -  Asbestos may or may have been used in the original stuff - not sure.....wouldn't be surprised if it was. But I wouldn't tell them that!

Maybe others can comment on this product.  I liked it but it sure is messy going on!  And I used 2 gallons.

Emailed Rick about the undercoating and he says he does not ship internationally so you would need t find another way to get it.  He did send me the MSDS for it and I can email to you if needed.

It's the same product Frank Badalson has.
It is the closest thing there is and looks good - if applied properly.

I think the question is they need some sort of documentation about the product used by chrysler from factory as the Australian government now has a new law about cars being imported into the country have to go through a asbestos inspection and they are picking on things such as brake pads ,gaskets and any kind of product used on these car that contains asbestos such as  the tar used on the under body could also contain asbestos
