440 Pulley/belt setup

Only when I fitted a new alternator did I realize my pulley/belt setup is not right! I have one belt for water pump/ps pump and alternator (no AC).
The crank has a triple pulley. I presume the PS pump should be on a separate belt? Do I need a different mounting bracket so it sits further forward? Or a dual belt pulley? Any suggestions appreciated!

WOW !!! does it overheat ? yes it should have a separate power stg belt, looks like Maybe the pulley on the stg pump is on backwards, it is offset. not sure without more pictures  or wrong pulley

Yeah, not much belt wrap on the WP...wonder how it pumps at all. Here's how it's supposed to be.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Doesn't overheat but it's pretty cold here in Scotland! Here's how the PS pump mounts:

Yes it looks like if you can turn the pulley over on the power steering pump it would line up with the next groove on the crank pulley

Looks like you have everything there, just need a smaller belt for the alt/WP/Crank and separate one for the PS pump to crank..  :shruggy:

You think I can just flip that pulley?? That would be a suspiciously easy fix!

I had a look at my car and my pulley has the spokes also

My car has a 383 from a 1971 donor car

Great thanks everyone. I'll have a look for that pulley from somewhere that isn't BPE - they charge a $140 fee for making an international payment!

Anyone know what belt sizes I need for the correct arrangement?

Got the new PS pulley installed. Looks more like the thing - BUT - the PS pulley belt is rubbing on the WP pulley!! Looks like I need to change the WP pulley too? Any recommendations...

That'll have everything you need. Not sure if they ship international, I dont see why not.

Thanks, ordered.
All the ones on summit looked the same shape as my current one but the one on 440source looks like it will do the job  :2thumbs:

I've only seen that water pump pulley on small blocks.

You can also try a narrower belt that rides deeper in the groove, like how it was on your original set up pic, and on the pics from 70 Sublime.

A part number starting with 17 is probably what you have now, try one starting with 15. Looks like the 17 is 15/32" (13 MM) wide and the 15 is 3/8" (10 MM) according to rockauto.com

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/dodge,1968,charger,7.2l+440cid+v8,1078859,belt+drive,belt,8900

If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Latest problem!! Ordered a new water pump pulley from 440source. It's definitely the right shape to clear the PS pump belt BUT it's bigger than the last one and hits the crank pulley! The one that's on is 6.5" diameter and the new one is 6.75". Looks like every pulley is wrong - is the crank pulley wrong too?!
