Factory Disc.... I'm SOL when they wear out.

My 68 R/T has its original Bendix front disc brake on it. Its currently fine when I reassembled the car about 3 years ago now. I rebuilt the calipers , got new pads and had the rotors turned to clean them up.

But when the rotors get worn down or possibly warp ( I do take the car to the strip so it does see some heavy braking ) . I am SOL ,am I not ? There are no replacements made for the factory style rotors.  OR has someone finally decided to reproduce them ?

If not I will have to switch to an aftermarket or OEM hybrid setup?

You're not gonna wear those disks out in the remainder of your lifetime. I did my SuperBirds for the first time last year, at 56,310 miles and all they needed was a light lick. If you can warp those ~3/4" thick rotors I'd be amazed....  :scratchchin:

The rotor hat that fits anything 1970 or newer DOES NOT for the hub / brake system for the 1966 thru 1969 system , trust me

Mmm interesting. I checked the compatibility list anyway and said it does. Whatever, I remember Edelbrock selling their IAS shocks as valid to all B bodies LOL. I know at least dozen of ppl which got them for 73/74 and had to return them. Sometimes vendors/manufacturers doesn't know the details.

Don't you have the old 2 piece hub/rotor assembly?

YearOne sells a one piece replacement disc. I bought two for my '69.

I also have two sets from YearOne, one for the C500, and my Daytona (clone)  :2thumbs:

for the two pieces assembly ( ridiculous price ):

another two pieces assembly rotor ( not too much gratefull price either, but if somebody want to keep the stock 2 pieces assembly )

durabrake is the brand, sooooo maybe searching for the PN at some regular parts dealer I bet the price will be less than restoration shops.

Durabrake website is not helpfull on this. They don't show a catalog, but just a part list without aplications. Maybe contacting them ?

Pic is just referential/generic

Yes I do

So it looks like year one has them but I don't know if I would drop $300+ on a set of rotors I am from Canada so those prices are even worse !

I was confronted with the same realization during my restoration.   Swapped out for  F body spindles, so when the time comes all I need are components for a 77 Volare.   The original parts are in 5 gallon buckets and  packed in grease for the next guy.

So you think that you'll wear those new discs out in your lifetime?
Either you're really young or you're driving your charger a hundred thousand miles per year.  ;)

Dunno.  Probably rust off.   Either way,  I'm no longer concerned........

it was more of a concern with break downs on the road.

Later model disc brakes parts can be had pretty much same day or next day anywhere in the country.

The old 4 piston bendix system ,,,not so much

Would the brake pad material make a difference in wear time...to a significant extent?

I'm using the Centric Parts C-TEK Metallic pads on my factory rotors.

Just thinking about metallic vs. ceramic vs. whatever else is out there.

Those are the pads I am using as well. Only put on about 800Km this year with about 10 passes at the strip. So far so good.

Brakes are THE most important system on any car. In my case the Charger is to be handed down so the next "guy" is my children. (Not to overlook who may be in front of the car.) I went with large rotor "Disk-O-Tech" upgrade. (My car is driven a lot.)
