Wow is right. Love to see survivor cars. a 6 cylinder car up to 30 grand already. Love the 3 speed on column. Didn't know they even offered that.

this is the base /6 Charger (225 with 3-speed manual) as introduced in the spring of 1968 -  it appears to have ZERO EXTRA-COST OPTIONs (vinyl top is dealer added & trim rings are not STOCK)

it also appears to be painted one of the "spring special" 1968 Charger ONLY colors "661" (1969's "F8" - dark green metallic)    a fender tag pic would be cool to see!

This car is a neat opportunity.  You can leave the exterior and interior mostly original, but then do whatever you want mechanically without feeling bad (NOM driveline).   

This car's value, however, has to be compared to that 318 survivor that sold for $49K a week ago.  You would think it wouldn't get much closer, but I'll probably be wrong.

A slant six Charger sort of reminds me of a great looking woman wearing a girdle....once it comes off, it is all squishy and loose everywhere.   
It looks great to others but performs terribly!

I like to see these small engine "survivor" cars going for what they go for. Since my 69 is a 318/904 car. Pretty much all original except for the wheels. Plus it's a factory A/C car. If Someone was to put 49 grand in front of me I'd have a hard time saying no.

It looks nice, and yes it is a beautiful dog   ... but that is the way it was born, I like them ;-)

About the motor train... the 903 non synchro transmission is a dog also (and the 3 on the 3 a bit sloppy)... with not may spare parts, if damaged it would have been worthy just replacing it with another one; about the engine, maybe the car had a 318 installed after, and they thought that going back to the original configuration people would pay more...or the engine&trans change was done by the first owner... who bought a slant initially and had to fix it for whatever reason...

The 29200 miles can be 129200 miles... without a problem...

On the contrary, many people including myself, think the coolest part about this car is the uniqueness of the /6 3-speed column shift manual. Ripping this stuff out would ruin the car. It then become just one of many modified Chargers. Not every car has to be a hot rod.

A pox on the person who buys this car and throws a 440 in it!

I would save the driveline,but a 440 4 speed and a Dana 60 would be in that Charger right away if I owned it! Rare is not always desirable!

A slant 6 car had a purpose and was an excellent design admired by many for what it was designed for. Again, as I said, not every car has to be hot rod. Some cars, even if not desirable, can be interesting and admired for what they are.

I am a strong proponent of preserving original cars that are in reasonable enough shape to be so. They only exist once and once modified or refurbished they are just another car amongst thousands.

Really dumb question (and I don't know anything about the car other than what's been posted here), but I wonder why they say the drivetrain is not original?  Based on what we've discussed here over the years, 1968 non-HP engines and transmissions were not stamped with the VIN.  There wouldn't be any way to prove what was - for sure - the original engine.  Same goes for '67 and older models.  You might be able to disprove that an engine is original to the car, if the assembly date, etc. doesn't fit, but that's about it.

Is it an engine paint color thing?  Casting date thing?  Just wondering...

Cool car too - I wouldn't change a thing, other than to fix it mechanically.

Yer really trying to convince people that a simple in-kind engine swap is equal to all the upgrades and changes it would take to make this a v8 car (in terms of retaining originality)?

If you do not want a /6 do not buy one

If you really want a nice Charger buy a nice Charger

If this /6 car is all you can afford to put a big V 8 in then I guess all the guys that love /6 cars did not love it more than the V 8 guys did if the price goes higher than they were willing to pay

All 68's had clock as standard equipment if I'm not mistaken

Mmmm just reading dealership databooks and noticing on 68/69 was standard, true, and 70 says standard on 500 while optional on the rest. I guess the clock delete plate I have seen on the web are just for 70s? And some clusters I have seen on line with the clock delete plate were just 70s? Never paid attention on this before. I thought any 2nd gen would be like that.

It would be a shame to yank the/6 and put a v8 in. That car needs to be left alone anddriven as originally intended. Would be an ideal every day driver.
