OEM spec 426 HEMI torque converter

Hello All,

Looking to see if anyone has recently dealt with getting a torque converter for their 426 Hemi / auto mopar. I'm working on a '69 Dodge Charger 500 426 HEMI car. I'd like to deal with someone/firm that deals with this on a regular basis....  Haven't had to buy a Hemi torque converter in a LONG time.. I know there's the external balancing to consider..

The original 426 Hemi converter is 10 3/4" (11") in diameter and has a stall speed in the 2500-2800 range. The Hemi differs from other 11" converters because it has 7/16" drive bolts instead of the more common 5/16". Lots of choices out there, everybody has their favorite brand. Hughes is good.

No external balance issue with the Hemi unless there's some odd engine internals.

Thanks John... This will make my search easier... I was thinking the HEMI required the balancing weights like the 6bbl versions do......

Come on man, Hemis are internally balanced.  What crank and pistons are you using? :drive:

It isn't...... I miss spoke out of a lack of knowledge.. I was assuming it was like a 6bbl car where there is a counterweight on the converter......... I know now street hemis don't require anything special.......... All I need to worry about is the stall I want and making sure it has the larger 7/16 bolt lugs...

as far I know Hemis use an unbalanced crank dampener while 440 sixpacks are balanced... so that would tell Hemis uses a neutral TC I guess
