1972 Charger Sport 440ci, completely stock with rally dash, tachometer equipped, car has A/C and factory electronic ignition.
Car has been in storage for over 10 years, doing repairs to get it running again.

In the attached engine wiring diagram it shows the bulkhead connector.
The very bottom left wire of the bulkhead connector is designated as the tachometer wire. Which seems to confirm across several other references.
This car has factory A/C, and instead of the feed for tachometer that wire is instead designated for the 12V that turns on and off the AC compressor.

There is no wire at the coil for me to follow back to the bulkhead.

Does anyone know where the tachometer is fed at the bulkhead?

Thx,
Wolf

wow... long time without see this diagram... I made it looooooong time ago ( was posted in fact into the OLD dodge charger board maybe 15 years ago!!! ) and new learnts are available after that!!!

this is actually like a 73 as far I recall, because 72s got the washer reservoir in passenger side, but 72 and 73 are the most similar harnesses we get ( every year got small differences on wiring )

72 and 73s got the tach wire running throught the firewall with a grommet.. just 71s and 74s got them running throught the bulkhead
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Good job on the diagram, it was very helpful with ignition wire tracing and purpose.

Will look for grommet.

Appreciate the info!

well except for the tach wire on diagram LOL... on 72 and 73 the empty cavity which supposelly would use the tach was ocuppied by the A/C compressor clutch feed... running to the dryer pressostatic gas sensor first.

I can't recall if that bulkhead disposition is actually 100% correct for 73 thought. AsI told, it was LONG time ago a new learnts are acquired since that

I found grommet with gray wire and tail hanging abandoned, it was hiding behind the brake booster, its now connected to coil, hopefully tach still works.
Fixed the problem with no spark, starting it tomorrow, first time in over ten years.
