Can anyone help me identify this... It was in a box of "extra" parts I got with my '72.

Never seen that part before.  Its blue though, is that the body color?  Could it be some type of front license plate bracket?  Maybe not original to the car but one someone made to fit it?   :shruggy:

Yeah, that's the body color, but I'm not sure if it's correct for the part.  The car has the correct license plate bracket on it, but I suppose it's possible someone made it.

Never have parted out a 71/72. Looks like a shield, but only shields or small body parts like that different between 71/72 and 73/74 I can recall righ now are fenders/valances shields and battery tray.

If is from 72, probably Twilt will be more helpfull

IF  front license bracket is the same between 71/72 and 73/74, what I'm mostly sure it is, then definitelly is not that. There is no way to attach the license plate on that bracket and front valence at the same time.

What about a Battery heat shield ?

ilustrations tipically are not exact pieces than the real ones.... just guessing.

does look that the center "tab" was bended from its original position

Bob

Flux capacitor heat shield, early 72 only :shruggy:
My first thought was the front license plate holder but the holes and design are wrong.

It is definately not a Battery Heat Sheild??????

Cant be those only came in stainless steel.   :P

It's not a license plate, bracket, heat shield, flux capacitor shield, muffler bearing, or dufungal valve...

:smilielol:  :nana:

I'm still stumped...

Hey Bob I think I figured it out.  I think its an adapter plate to mount 73/74 SE hood ornaments to bulge hoods.   :smilielol:

That would make sense except the guy I bought it from painted the car himself (with his brother) in their garage. It was the only Mopar he ever owned.  I'm starting to think the dude did this to mess with me - it worked. :eek2:

Bob

If it was an original Chrysler part it would have a part number......I think.....

who cares... several ppl start to part out its own cars and then you see them asking on board WHERE DOES BELONG THIS ?  :icon_smile_big:

I'm not saying si not for the car really. I never parted out 71/72 but mostly parts are the same or very similar than 73/74 what I have parted out ( 4 or 5 ), and never have seen that one

TUFCAT

Bob. Its been a long time (and a lot of beers)...my guess is it belongs inside the trunk area and bolts near the latch stricker behind the license plate area (inside the trunk)., or it belongs with the front hood latch framework (core support area)

Charger1973

I really dont think it belongs to the car at all.   :Twocents:
