What's the best way to remove the molding around the windshield on my 71 Charger?  Are there any special clips or tricks I need to be aware of?

Basically, my budget is pretty non-existant for the car, so I need to cut corners where I can.  I get a leak inside the car coming from the windshield.  I am going to clean out any crap around the window and use a clear silicone to sela it up, then replace the molding while it's still soft enough to give and sit right.

If this sounds like a terrible idea, please tell me and explain why.

Home made way:
make a hole through sealant, insert a guitar string ( heavier one ) or bass string, cut the seal with it using the string like a saw and then push the glass

Doen use clear silicone, If you will remove, make it on teh right way. 2 options to make it:

-window reabon and then sealer/filler... both provided by 3M

-urethane

latelly has been used urethane because is less corrosive and gets every corner of the window chanell.
