Mean! all business  :scratchchin:

:drool5: :yesnod: ......... ;) 255 /60s all round !

QuoteThe steelies with the chrome lugnuts look pretty darn good

they look tough but they got to be wide, 15x8 245's  all the way around . that's what i want with redlines for my 68 r/t . it came with redlines from the factory and it's an original car  . the wider the better. can you get 255's all the way around?

spent ages working out if you could get 255 x60  on all four corners of my 69 with out rubbing  , ( with the back space i wanted for  the deep dish affect ) even went as far as to buy a wheelrite thingy  ,  with  255 x60  on a 8 inch wheel  , on the front  i  dropped the suspension on the bump stops & turned the wheel side to side a  & rocked the car side to side  , etc etc , there was no rubbing at all  , although at full lock  the  fender lip was close about 7/16"  , so made some thing similar to (69 & a half 440sixpack /barrel lower bump stop spacers !) just to be on the safe side  ,  even made  wheel / tire out of cardboard with the correct  back space , before i ordered up one wheel first to try !  , also tried that size on all four corners , as factory production specs can vairy from car to car !!

http://www.percyshp.com/WheelRite.html

so with 255 s all round , i had about 1 inch  gap between  the fender/quarter lip to the wall of the tire  , although 245 is a slightly better option , with the backspace /deepdish  look i wanted
had problem   getting a 255 in the stock spare location
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,70474.0.html

if i was not wanting  all wheels & tyres the same ,  think with some carefull mesuring & the use of the wheel write thingy , sure you could get a 275  on the front  , with a correct back space ,  :yesnod: but with that back space to do that on the front , they would not fit the rear with out rubbing the  quarter lip  & or cutting into the tire  :scratchchin: :icon_smile_blackeye:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I love those photo shop pics. They tell me a lot about how my car will look with various styles of rims. The bird has P255/60's on 15X8's on all four corners and they fit great.

TexasStroker...I think that was the guy. I traded him a real nice rust free 79 Trans Am that one of my bodymen built several years ago. He got the better deal but I've wanted a 68 runner for quite a while. That car is pretty fast. Needs a little sheet metal work but overall a solid, good running car. I have a date coded 383 to go in it if I decide to pull the 440. I bet I've only driven it about three times since I got it. The plan was to go tor-red and put my air grabber setup on it. Might still yet. Not sure

Cool deal, sounds like a nice future is in store for the Roadrunner!  He picked up a 70 GTX but last I knew was going to sell it  :'(  He has been really busy this year and I don't see him around much.  Does great paint and body work though.

LARRY  TROW UP THE PIC OF THE BIRD WITH THE ENKEIS ON IT ,WHEN I BUILT THE BIRD I WAS AFTER THE FUTURISTIC LOK. LETS FACE IT THE CAR IS STILL HEAD OF ITS TIME.  I CAN GET YOU THOSE ORIGINAL ENKEIS  AND ALTHOUGH SOME PURISTS HATE THEM . I NEVER CARED THE CAR ALWAYS LOOKED THE BEST WITH THEM ON IN MY OPINION  AND I KICKED MYSELF  WHEN I TOOK THEM OFF FOR THE CENTERLINES.  BUT IN MY OPINION THE CENTERLINES STILL LOOK BETTER THAN ALL THOSE WHEELS. BECAUSE OF THE CENTERCAPS LOGO WHICH ARE VERY COL AND GO WITH THE CARS CONCEPT.  IM GLAD YOUR HAVIN FUN WITH IT IT WENT TO THE RIGHT GUY FOR SURE, WHEN I FINALLY GET MY SCARLET RED BIRD BUILT ONE DAY THE PURISTS ARE REALLY GONNA FREAK OUT WITH MY NACA DUCT FRESH AIR HOOD. AND IF YOU DON'T WANT THE ENKEIS IM GONNA GET EM BACK AND PUT EM ON THE SCARLET BIRD.  TAKE CARE

Tom, I would like to have the Enkeis but to be honest with you I wouldn't put them back on the car. I just thought that since they are part of the history of the car, it would be nice to keep them with all of the other stuff that I have for the bird. If you buy them back and put them on your car then we still might get them back with the Black Ice car some day. I may eventually put black steelies on the car with chrome lugnuts and then trade back and forth with the rallyes occasionally. For now I plan to leave the rallyes on the car.

I don't personally care for any of the modern wheels.    But it would be nice to have the Enkei's as they are part of the cars history.

Bart Racing Wheels are making the old Clement 5 slot NASCAR wheel in a 15 x 8 and in the right bolt pattern.    They are powder coated in black and would look nice.

hotrod98

Oh, forgot to mention. The Centerlines aren't going anywhere either. They stay with the Black Ice stuff. At least for a long as my family owns the car.

I sorta thought these would look good on a black car that I got for mine.

Are those the rims from Marsh? Those guys aren't too far from me.

I still like the look of Cragars. The first set of rims that I bought for my Chevelle SS396 back in the 70's was a set of Cragar SS's. I always thought that they were the best looking wheel ever.

My 71 Cuda drag car has a set of the old school Cragar drag rims dating back to the 80's. I hate to change them but I need to go with a more modern, lighter rim.

the rallys do look good. I like all the different photo shop combo's the stelies would look good with some super wide ones in the back. i think if you have the offset just right 11 inch rims will fit in the back.  Is the car running any cooler?  glad to see the engine is running good I always have a pro build mine  have seen too many home rebuilds go up in smoke. It was actually a chevy guy that built the motor. man what great pics from the track , the Ice mobile looks fantastic!
I think you should get a little machine that does all the talking about the car so you don't burn out your vocal cords.  still trying to get back my stryped bass guitar from my egotistical old band mate.  Id be willing to loan it to you for a couple years to display with the car. black just has to be the most superior color ever for a bird. I have shown my friends the good times you guys and the bird are having  and they do say now  yeah tom the car just stayed all cooped up in your garage when it needed to terrorize once again. take care  say hi to sandra.

hotrod98

We're all just caretakers and I'm doing my best to take good care of it.  It's running a lot cooler now that the temps have dropped. We found some 93 octane in St. Louis last weekend. This car loves 93 a whole lot more than 91. We don't have 93 here so I may start keeping some 105 in the shop to mix my own fuel. I think the poor quality gas is part of the reason for it running warm.
