Thanks Beep! Thats' exactly how I remember that car when the 3 of us guys bought it around 1978-79, for the princely sum of $1250 at the auto body auction in Coquitlam, BC. No wing, nose or back window. I sure am glad it is being restored now! I will be watching this restoration and eventual completion with a sort of trepidation for not having been able to keep the car myself but no matter, looks like it is in good hands! I remember how my heart was pounding very hard during the auction as there were a couple other guys bidding on it and we really wanted to purchase that car and did.

Well - The owner of 666 came over to my place this weekend to check out my stuff and talk cars. Super good car guy. He is going with the mod top....and to tell you the truth....I think that is 100% cool  :2thumbs:

It was funny showing him all of the parts that were stolen off of his car back in the day (Again - I didn't steal them!!!....I bought them along with 665...LOL!)

He has found replacements for everything except rear window trim.

Ghoste

I think for the most part people were much less upset about it having a Mod Top than they were the widely implied notion that Dodge did it at the factory.

I see that it is in the latest issue of MCG and they are touting it as being the real deal.  I thought the general opinion was that the top was added later?  :icon_smile_question:

Nice job Cody!

This part - that would be me harboring the illicit, stolen merchandise....

"The original nose, wing, latch tray, deck lid and rear glass were stolen while the car was parked at a body shop in the 70's or 80's. The kids who stole the parts sold them to the old man who I bought my Daytona from. All the old-timers in that area remember my Daytona and the Mod Top Daytona sitting side-by-side at the dealership in BC. I got all those extra parts when I bought mine from the old fellow. I also got another wing as well. That made two extra wings – one black, one white. I did not know the extra parts were stolen when I purchased them with the car. I still have everything but the nose which I sold with my Daytona."

After doing nothing but research into the MOD TOP DAYTONA's  early days some very interesting facts have come to life. A design team employee working on the production of psychedelic patterns was interviewed by myself personally revealing some very cool photos that will be published soon. The Mod Top was installed by Chrysler the material was owned by Chrysler and only produced once for the Design Team as a test. Interviews with the participants confirm these Facts.
And YES !!!! Some other cool stuff as listed below also helped !!!!

"An acquaintance reported to Mr. Rozman that his father had brought the car home from work one day, saying it was in the executive garage and that someone had put the top on to test the public response".

That's good to hear Todd!...where/when will these newly discovered photos be posted/viewed?

PS. I hope the "pie" your serving is of a healthy size, as there are/were quite a few naysayers when this car was revisited close to a decade ago, I said back then that they'd be eating crow!
