Daytona Superbird Auto Club (me) maintains a registry for the cars.  There are about 1275 Superbirds accounted for so far.    Would be happy to add yours so it can be included.

Out of those 1275 accounted for is that number current,or how many are gone ? I know of two that have been destroyed in the last 3yrs.

Bill, I would say that most of them are around in one form or another.   For instance, the red white and blue fire damaged Superbird is still listed because even though it will likely take a rebody, it still exists in one piece.   But we'd change the condition reported from "good" to something reflecting the current way the car sits.   When you say destroyed, are you talking fire, crash or that the cars are physically scrapped and no longer exist in any form?

Arnie Cunningham

Hey All,
Over the last year I have had several people contact me asking about an online Superbird Registry.  God knows I don't need another project but I am actually thinking about it.  Two years ago we started an animal rescue organization that has grown at an astonishing rate.  We use Google Drive for online file sharing.  Now that I know the potentials and limitations of the Google system I can guess at how it would have to be set up.  I see registries for the Charger 500s.  Is there a similar one started for the Superbirds?
Thanks,
Brennan

I am perfectly happy to have Doug have information on my cars, and he has for decades. He does not share the information he has except with actual owners of the car they own. And I would be very concerned if he were to sell it. I am going to guess a fair number of people do not want specific or even general information on their car's serial number, ownership, or broadcast sheet on a clearing house on the web.

I am not sure if a sane person would want the liability if someone used the information to create a false or double car.

Arnie Cunningham

Yes, that has always been a concern.  If the majority of people turn out to not be interested I have no problem letting go of the idea.  I have way to many irons in the fire as it is.  I just wanted to throw this out there and get some feedback.
Thanks,
Brennan

why would it concern anyone if fifty year old information about how a car was optioned is out there?

i can understand how some might wish to keep current ownership/location off the radar, but worrying about fender tag/build sheet info is a bit nuts.

Thanks, I will let everyone know if I take on this project.
