I just took a look through the Rosetta Mission pages (a European Space Agency mission to a comet) and all I can say it wow.  It looks like things have not gone perfectly, but the images are amazing and not what I expected.  If you are interested, take a look at:

Hats off to them for accomplishing what they have done so far.  :2thumbs:

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Awesome achievement for everyone involved.  I'm an optimist that these type of pursuits will yield practical everyday benefits in years to come.  :2thumbs:

Thank God that General Motors management wasn't involved. :icon_smile_dissapprove:

And bounced twice.  The first bounce apparently took it a kilometer from the surface (at least that is what I think the guy said).  I wonder how it got back to the surface. :scratchchin:

That is what I heard too, but it got more interesting when I was listening to the press conference yesterday and at about 15 minutes in one of the scientists said they revised their thinking on the landing and describes it as a big bounce and a much smaller bounce.  The press conference is pretty dry  information delivery.

It is about 15 minutes into yesterday's press conference.  http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Space_Science/Rosetta/Rosetta_media_briefing_replay.
