How far up the firewal does your carpet run?

I have my carpet running over the gas pedal mechanism and it's not ideal, it's also covering a big part of the hole the steering column passes through so I need to trim it. Anyone got some pics of how theirs is trimmed?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Probably not OEM correct, but here is how I have mine  :Twocents:

I think I'll be doing it that way as well. Thanks!

My 67 is about the same. They usually give you more than enough to overlap on the other end, why not make use of it?  :shruggy:

Usually when the "pad" where the drivers feet go fits nice a snug is a good indication of the right placement of the carpet.

Ah, yes, that is right, forgot about that. My 67 does have a pad but 73 does not. Still the 67 carpet went up to the accelerator mechanism.

Old thread but still a good topic.
Tears ago the carpet companies really seemed to aim to screw the customers over by making carpets too short. As mentioned, in the 68-70 models that I've seen, the drivers side has the molded in plastic/vinyl pad that dictates where the carpet will sit. If it was located just an inch from the base of the gas pedal, the top of the carpet would not even make it to the mounting bracket for the gas pedal on the firewall. Back seat passengers could see the bare firewall.
There must have been enough complaints because in 2022 I bought a kit that ran up well above the steering column.
