Something new today while driving my car...

Sitting at a red light while coming home from lunch with a buddy today (nice cool overcast day here) and I happened to look in my rearview mirror to see a 20-something in his econobox behind me using his cellphone to photograph my car. I think it also happened while buying gas at Costco later as well (this car only has a range of something like 152 miles per 19-gallon tank of gas).  Not used to all the cellphone action so... that's odd to me but maybe I'm overreacting?  I normally don't mind the attention but this kind-of feels like surveillance.

Do young folks photograph everything they encounter these days?

EVERY time I am on the freeway, I see someone recording me in the red car.
This one:

Rarely does anyone take video or pictures of me in this one that I call Jigsaw:

I think that is because the red one is shiny and flashy....it appeals to the younger enthusiasts that must have seen these cars in the Fast and Furious movies.
When I'm getting gas or running errands in the ratty one, dudes of all types come up to look at it. That may be because it looks like so many did in the 80s and 90s...field fresh and a clean slate to start from. I had both at the Sacramento Autorama in 2023. The majority of attention went to Jigsaw!

My 69 Charger was a ratty type car when I drove it
Every single time I was out someone was taking a picture
It got to the point that I only put down the driver side window and tried to stay in the left lane at the traffic lights as they always want to see a burn out but with the passenger side windows up I just pretend not to hear them :)

I stopped driving my Daytona convertible on interstates and expressways. Idiots trying to catch up to you and weaving in and around my car at 60 mph to get a picture.  I do appreciate the many thumbs up and picture takers at gas stations and parking lots. WINGNUT426

Yeah, I've had that happen too. It's a bit unnerving. These things used to be just old cars, now I guess they're something else. It's fun to be acknowledged but not to be treated foolishly.  Probably the biggest reason why I normally only use it out in the jingweeds.

My Charger gets more than its fair share of attention, especially on the freeway.
Whilst there's plenty of US muscle on the roads here, some cars just stand out more than others, and as such there's always the THAT guy in a local Ford or Holden that want's to prove the size of his knob by driving along side and giving the throttle a squirt.
Either that or the tailgaters looking for pics to put on Facebook  :slap:
Gotta love a '69
