Tremec TKX/TKO Shifter handle noise

Just finished my TKX install in my 68 Dodge Charger.

Overall very happy, it shifts smooth, and the clutch works nicely.

But I can clearly hear a metallic high pitch grinding noise resonating from the shifter, has any of you other TKX owners experienced this? Is it normal?

It happens in all the gears, even in neutral. If I touch the pistol grip handle, the noise stops.

Here is a video, the noise was not captured well in this clip, it is more noticable IRL.

It is common.
I have a TKO, a buddy has a TKX. Both of them have a slight rattle. Mine more than his since my engine vibrates a bit more than his.
Mine is mostly when in 5th gear.

Hemidog

Thanks, google seems to feel the same way, but I wanted some FB from you guys.

I wasn't happy about it but since the car is SO much more fun to drive as compared to when it had a 727, I figure it is a small price to pay.

My hearing is too far gone to hear a rattle but there is a noticeable vibration in the handle in top gear in my TKO.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I tried something... thought maybe it would work, but the sound still resonates.
Maybe because I cranked it down so hard cause I did not want any slop.

Those pictures come through really small. You can load them full size when posting pictures.
All I can tell is that you put some sort of spacer in there. Is it rubber or plastic? I thought of using some thin rubber to soak up some of the resonance.

You guys all seem to have the pistol grip handle set up
I have one also but it is the factory 4 speed in my car

I am wondering is it the heavy handle that is making the noise show up ?
Anyone have a skinny round type handle with the small round ball on the top ?
Wonder if that would help any ?

Can you click on them to enlarge them? I used the standard input under 400kb

Yes I tried a rubber piece in between the shifter and the transmission, and 2 rubber "washers" on the bolts.

Maybe a slight improvement, but not that noticable.

Yes I believe you are right, the heavy pistol grip handle acts like a "speaker".A round ball would probably be better.
But I do love the pistol grip  :icon_smile_big:

Yeah, I clicked them but either my connection was slow or something else happened, they kept going back to small size.
It is hard to describe but when you click to load a picture and it shows up, there is a spot in that box with a Blue arrow  that points UP. If you click on that, it UPsizes the picture to full size.
Back on point....
The rattle/buzz/resonance that I feel isn't terrible but it is there. I have considered the same thing that you tried....a section of say....1/8" thick rubber just to soak up some of the vibration.

I see the little pictures but when click on them they do enlarge
