dual field alt

i have regular alt wiring on my 69 which had a single field alt .....now i have a new double field alt .....can i still use this alternator......?
   because ive got it all hooked up and ive got the wire plugged into the terminal that says field ....i just left the other  terminal open
   problem is the metre on the dash is reading just under center now ....

You have to ground the other terminal.

i grounded it. used nachos idea with the small washer to ground it , seems fine now ......thanks

glad I could help...

but I would choose the regulator upgrade in the future now that you have the biggest part of the upgrade ;) just need run a new blue wire and regulator with plug ;)
