69 500.One interesting thing about Mike. You could not tell it by looking at him,but he's ok financialy. As I have said.I talked to him on the phone for 1/2 hr,he invites me up to his place,he treats me like I am a king.He takes my friend and I to lunch in an 88 taurus that doesn't have 2mm of paint on it anywhere. He's just a super guy.Jon Wood

Yeah Mike is a super nice guy.

The last time I saw him he asked me and my wife when we were going to come down for a weekend. That was the first time I had seen him since I got married. He is a great guy though. Definately a good old boy as some would say.

Jon, the car is coming along great!

It's interesting to see the different approaches that are possible with the FoMoCo sheet metal that are usually avoided with Mopars.  For instance, most Mopar bodyguys avoid making a seam at a body/quarterpanel crease.  To my untrained eye, it looks like you've intentionally put your patch line at that mid-panel crease.  I suppose that's because the Talladega's crease is much more pronounced than the Charger's, and therefore easier to tool/shape back into the proper look?  Pardon my ignorance on the subject...

jonw29

My body guy has replaced that panel.I think it is actually a little above the body line.I agree with you on the placement of the patch.I am reday to see some color on it and start bolting stuff back on.

wetfeetmi

Great car!  Word to the wise...KEEP YOUR 10 YEAR OLD INVOLVED!  My daughter is 15 now and could not care less anymore about my winged car.  I miss it more than you can imagine. Rick

jonw29

Keeping him involved is my plan.He is so geared up to go back to Alabama.I have to say i amlooking forward to going back myself.I met so many nice people last year.

jonw29

I was at my body guys place on sat 12-15 he says it should be presidential blue by the end of Jan.He is a super picky guy and usually end up working by himself.Everyone he interviews for a job just wants to cave and pave.He is a devout hammer and dolly guy.I took it to him in Jan 05.With the amount of metal replacement that he had to do as far as driillng out spotwelds from donor cars,I am very pleased with what has  been accomplished. If I could have gotten more $$$ to him faster,I would have it back by now.I have no complaints.I will post more pics when it goes to color. :icon_smile_big:

Charged

Am I missing something here? Why is a Ford on a Mopar site. And why is it with the aero cars?

Hemidog

Because it's an Aero Car, and a cool one.

The Torino Talladega is Ford's version of an aerodynamic package to make their cars faster at the track. The Mercury Cyclone Spoiler also falls into this category. The reason this is called the "Aero Cars" section is specifically NOT to exclude other cars. The description even says so: "A place to share the history and other information about all aero cars (including clones and other makes)." We did this on purpose because it's such a small segment and the competitors are the reason for the existence of Charger 500s and Daytonas. The members who are interested in one particular car also generally have an interest in that era of NASCAR. Superbirds are also Mopars but they aren't Chargers so where do you draw the line? There's plenty of room for all of these discussions.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

It's more interesting than Jamie Lynn Spears.
