Howdy to you too.
I was a member of the old charger.com site and was sorry to see it go. Glad to find this site. Love my 69 charger but would really love a daytona even if it was a clone, Black with a sassy grass wing and stripe. My son had some shirts embroidered with the Daytona on the back in those colors for me while he was in Korea about 7 years ago. I would even trade my 70 challenger R/T for a good clone, at least as good of shape as my challenger is in.

UFO,  What was used as the closeout for the decklid on that charger?  I cutout that part from a 3rd gen charger. That is what looks like the space at the bottom of the vega plug.

hotrod98

Howie's right. That area that looks like a space at the bottom of the plug is the black 3rd gen dutchman panel. The one that he had was cut a little narrower than I would have liked, but it should work. I still haven't made the filler that goes between the top of the plug and the roof. I'm setting the plug down in flush for a nicer fit. I was originally going to leave a lip all of the way around the plug but that creates the necessity for more filler. Here's a pic of how it looks now. Almost ready to weld in permanently.

Cool. That's exactly what we've been needing around here lately is more clone pics. Everyone's been a little quiet lately.
Rene, I haven't figured out whether it would be better to have the dutchman panel narrower or wider. I guess that I would have to do one both ways to figure it out for sure. That 3rd gen panel is not the best solution for the front drip trough. You have to cut around a little in the corners to make the steps line up enough to both work and look right. Even then, I'll have to use a little sealant to make it look acceptable. What we need is for someone to step up and have one made that has both the correct steps and the correct radius to match the daytona trunk lid. I can see why some of the guys just make the front of the deck lid straight.

If your asking about the rail for the weatherstrip, that part was from a challenger. Not as nice a fit as the 3rd gen as posted before. What about the shorter decklid?Thats all it is a cut and shortened charger lid.

hotrod98

And, if you're asking about how to shorten the deck lid...here's the short story. We cut the deck lid, bend the front lip and install a steel cap.

I gave a guy $100 for mine. That was hatch, trim, and glass. A guy I work with found it and went to get it for me. The salvage yard was 60 miles away and it was delivered. I couldn`t beat that.
