With a Vega plug you have to make your own lower pinchweld support, attachment for int trim , and ledge for package shelf . Also after many years of this crap , I come to expect the unexpected , that is why I take nothing for granite . In one photo I installed glass and installed trim .

Wow! That looks like factory! Great Job bro. :2thumbs:

Ok, I don't know too much about Daytona clones, so I have a question?  Is there a special year Vega Hatchback you use for the plug? And would one from a Pontiac Astre[sp?] of the same year work?  Just curious.  ;D

Thanks Guys.

So, if I'm ever out junkyard scrounging and happen to come across one in good condition, I should scoop it up for you clone builders?

Hell yes!  Even if it has the vents in it.  unbolt the sucker and let us know.

    71-73 vega's hatches have vent's ,  74-up do not .
No wagons please they are totally different    , and yes you weld in metal to cover the louvered vents on the early hatch .  Most of them rust around the glass so look carefully .

Stuart, I think Howie found you a non-vented version. Much easier to use obviously, but if that was all that was available a guy couldn't really complain.
And yes, the Astre hatchbacks from the same years are the same.
