The vet had to put him to sleep. 1 of the toughest decisions of my life.

Sorry to hear CB, not an easy time.

There's a really nice website to visit whens something like this happens.  Chris, (Burnt) knows where it is.

Sorry CB, I know how you feel. I had to do that to my husky in July. That too was the hardest decision I have ever made.

Just remeber time heals all wounds and you still have the memories of the time spent. Remember the fun 5 years you guys had.

I know just how you feel.  Sorry for your loss.  The bonds we build withour pets are usually stronger than the ones we build with most people.    Bob

CB, very sorry to hear this news and your terrible loss. This hits very close to home for me. We lost our little one at just 2yrs old. The pain goes away, but not the sadness. In a month or two, I would start looking for another pup. Trust me, Zaidan will help you make that decision, and you will love the new one just as much.

This is a nice place to visit and perhaps register. www.rainbowsbridge.com Say hello to Sophey from NJ when you're there.  :icon_smile_sad:

I remember when I lost a pet a few years ago it hurt real bad. Someone sent me this. It may seem sort of mushy to some, but it did make me feel a little better when I read it.

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... "

You have my thoughts and prayers, CB.

It's never easy, but you have eased his pain and given him peace.

May his memories and love give you the same.

Sorry that you had to make that choice.
My dog has been with me through girlfriends, moves, cars, etc
Your dog had  someone to love him for 5+ years, that is more than most animals get.

Make sure if you get a new dog in the future, to throw a blanket over the passenger or back seat of your Charger and take him for a ride every so often.
When I pull the car cover off the "Super Coupe" , Wolfgang [my dog] always gets excited because he knows he gets to ride in that old car !

Sorry to hear that CB.

My dog will be 10 in February and has been fine until this Spring when she hurt her knee.   She just doesn't look too well anymore and it sucks seeing them like a pup one day and like an old timer the next.   :-[   Dogs are better than most people these days...
