Drove 2400 miles to get a clone project I found on the internet -Started in Illinois headed to Vancouver Canada
Left Sunday at 12 noon - reached the border at Seattle at 8:30 Tuesday. Canadian border guards decided to due a full check on us. Apparently the fight which I had to make a court appearance on in 2001, was in my "record" and they decided I was "unfit" to enter their country and denied access.

Sent my buddy Dave into the great white north alone on wed morning while I sat at a Lummi Indian Casino. What was supposed to be a pick-up 30 mile inside the border turned into a 7 1/2 hour ordeal, but FINALLY Dave came back with the car.

Since it is in primer only, I covered it with a premium car cover and wrapped the entire car in plastic to prevent he cover from flapping. After a short distance, duct tape was applied to keep the plastic in place.

Wing was removed for transport

24 hours later - we were stopped in Bozeman Montana by 4-inches of snow.

Hope to be back on the road ASAP and back home by Sunday. 5000 miles in 8 days?!

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Now you know what I go through every time I drive the 69 Road Runner with the Superbird wing on it. We had to stop and explain the car to four different people yesterday.
The best part is that so far, I've had people tell me where about five Mopars are sitting including a couple of cudas and a real Superbird. This is working out pretty good.  ;D

That reminds me of the trip when we moved back to Illinois from Charlotte NC in Dec 2004.
60 and sunny friday AM as we left, Lexington KY Saturday AM, 30 and snow!
Then the straps froze on the trailer and I had a heck of a time getting the car unloaded that night!

Congrats on the purchase, Lets see some pictures without the cover!

Great story BPT, Best wishes for safe trip back. Just remember, up here the quantity of beer required to over come travel frustration goes up exponentially with every inch of snow.  A couple of nights accomodations is cheap compared to ending up upside down someplace.

cool story , good luck with your new project

Whenever we take the Daytona out...always people say "Nice Super Bee"...or "Cool 'Bird"

Now on the side of the car under the wing it says "DAYTONA".....and Charger on the outer sailpanel....biggest frickin' rolling billboard there ever was.....all they need to do is open their eyes before the mouth

While in Yellowstone park I thought we had found the sacred Indian white buffalo spirit

- He appeared to be eye'ing the bird on the trailer, So I asked him the secret to a happy life and a good restoration - "Grass, more grass man" was his reply. ????

As he trudged away laughing and shaking his head, I realized we had actually stumbled on the more common 1960's Brown Hippie Buffalo spirit, thinly disguised under a layer of snow.  :brickwall: :brickwall:

I had several grinning smart-alec's ask if I knew I lost the wing off my car!

Didn't get lucky enough to uncover any "secretly stashed" cars, but one interesting note.

In the parking lot at a McDonald's in South Dakota and older man and his wife abruptly pulled out of the drive thru line to come over to the car park in the back of the lot. He had been stationed in GUAM in the 70's, and remembered a Superbird which one of his platoon buddies bought new and had shipped over to the island.

So Any one know of a "Guam" war bird?????

I could only assume he had it shipped back once his tour ended.

15.5?? i couldn't get that with my 05 hemi ram if i had a tailwind, and that's WITHOUT any trailer or top secret government project, if i got that good of mileage i might still have it :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:
