I don't think that particular one is an unknown car - almost certainly a mis-recorded VIN.

402966 was at Carlisle in 2007 (I looked at it myself) - and it's not on the list of VINs on the website message header.  The car was originally Y2, but has been V2 hemi orange for a while now.

So the XX29L9B402966 is another Y2 yellow car switched over to orange.I think I see it has tan interior this might have been Kenny Bracketts old car?

Why would anybody repaint a car orange but leave the engine bay yellow????
If I owned a Daytona the engine bay and the outside of the car would match.... :brickwall:

johntpr

Its been that way (orange outside, yellow engine compartment) since 1969....won't be for much longer.

Original owner simply hated the yellow.

I love that shot. If it's the original yellow, which I'm guessing it is, then you can plainly see the amount of black shadowing that was done on the car across the radiator core structure...  :2thumbs:

Boy John, you're on the road to one amazing Daytona...

True...but if you were looking to conserve funds, leaving the engine bay alone would keep some green in your pocket.
