From where do '74s draw fresh HVAC air?

I have a '74 hood on my '71. Without the vents in the rear of the hood the air that comes out of my vents is hot engine compartment air. Did '74s have another air inlet in the cowl somewhere to draw outside from somewhere other than the engine bay?

I do not imagine the vents in the hood made much difference to temp of the air going into the car as the back of the hood is totally open space for the windshield wipers

Do you have any kind of seal on the hood or the front edge of the cowl that seals up the engine compartment from the cowl air intake screen area when the hood closes ?

Same inlet for all 3rd gens. Grilles on hood were removed assuming the gap between windshield and hood was quite enough I guess.

If you are getting a lot of hot air COULD BE the cowl seal dried, contracted or hood is not reaching the seal ( there is some gap)
