I remember reading about Charlie Keel and his Great Charger and his health issues. I am hoping he is still with us and doing well.

God Bless Charlie

I don't know the last name but there is a member here with a black 68 Charger, his screen name is CDR and his name is Charlie.
A short time back he bought some high end Challenger that is black with black stripes.
These new Challengers are great cars too.

Charlie is also one of the first people I heard of that put an overdrive 518 behind a big block in a Charger.
This was before anyone was offering a bolt in kit. Silver Sport Overdrives has a 4 speed auto overdrive based on a GM 700R4 or actually a 4L60E. It probably isn't as durable as a Mopar Transmission though.

Hi Charlie,      19 Sep 25

Thank the Good Lord you are here. I remember reading your posts and wishing I could do all you had done.

I do like seeing the black cars with matte black stripes.
Yeah, this has nothing to do with B5 Blues original topic but how can you deny showing appreciation for what is cool?
Look at the rear wheel wells. It looks like he rolled the lips. Compare that to my wife's 2015 R/T:

Maybe I'm seeing it wrong but it does seem like his rear wheel opening lip edge sticks out more.

I am not one to hold grudges (In general) so if no rude comments are made to me from now on, I'd be willing to play nice.

Still playing the victim i.e. it's all my fault for pointing out when you "go too far" by your own admission.

Nuff said.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Well I dropped  100.00 on 93 Oct. non-ethanol the other day. I got sick of the crappy starting habits of ethanol. 5 bucks a gallon here.

will

I about died when I got into California and saw the gas prices. How do you guys do it? $6.49 was the worst I saw on my way out. Generally 4.59 while I was there in Nipomo.

Hi High Octane non Alcohol fuel folks,          15 Nov 2025

I'm assuming that you have to go somewhere other than your local QT for the "Non-Alcohol contaminated" fuel. We are in Phoenix AZ, have no clue where to acquire the good stuff . . . . if it's even available here.

Unfortunately, most of our fuel comes from California. The good news is new pipelines are going to be built so we will be able to get fuel from other sources.

Does the 93 octane non "alcoholic" fuel contain Tetraethyl Lead or a reasonable replacement? If the latter, what is the replacement?

I have read that Toluene was used to boost octane at one time, they may still use it. No lead anywhere though, that was phased out over 20 years ago, probably longer. The last time I recall buying leaded fuel was in the mid 90s.

Hi Kern,            16 Nov 2025

You're right Kern, Toluene is the ticket. I'd be careful with the stuff. Don't know what hazards it poses. Probably find answers on the net.

I think it might have issues in cold weather.

Take Care

Is aviation grade 100 octane LL (low lead) still available at airports? There was a small airport near my house in Southlake TX and another in North Richland Hills about 4 miles south. They both had 100 LL available while they existed. They have been redeveloped into high dollar housing. The latter is where I obtained my Single Engine license and Fort Worth Meecham is where I obtained my Multi engine.

Too old and beat up to even think about obtaining the medical certification necessary to fly as PIC (Pilot In Command). If I were able to pass the physical and the check ride, I sure wouldn't want to be the only person in the plane that knew how to fly it.

I know of two private owned public airports that have fuel. Will check with a couple friends that live on those airports. They should know what's available.

May take a few days to get a response.

Yes, it is still the most common fuel for piston engines, many use it successfully (and illegally) in their hot rods. Unleaded avgas is in the works to completely eliminate TEL in the near future.

Hi John,            22 Nov 2025

Thank You; haven't flown in many years. Have wondered what the situation is regarding 100 LL. My personal belief is it's a waste of time and money to try to find a replacement. Won't be too long and turbines may prove feasible as replacements for small piston aircraft or small planes will go the way of the Dodo Bird.

I hate to see it but this country and others have become more crowded as populations have increased requiring more space for housing and all the ancillary commercial development. Most small private airports I remember have been replaced by housing and/or businesses. Such is the way of progress.

Thanks John; Happy Thanksgiving !!!
