Edd China is leaving Wheeler Dealers! :( There goes the show! Maybe he's teaming up with Aaron from Fast N' Loud!

I like the show, but hate flippers. Ed Needs a serious hair cut.

ACUDANUT

I prefer the show "Phantom works" Or something close to that name.

Dino

Aww crap! This was the only show I liked, I hate all the scripted crap on the others. What a shame.

I really liked this show as well.  Edd was top notch at his game...he could pretty much fix anything & I liked how they explained it all as well as the tools used....

Charger-Bodie

It s funny that the tv execs that make the decisions that n these matters have zero clue what the viewership really wants.........
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

The show isn't dead. It continues with the same format... just a new mechanic with shorter hair.

the guy responsible should be hung by the nuts . only decent car show on the box and corporate America has screwed it , just like when they took over faulty towers and then decided that they needed to get rid of basil faulty .

yeah, but if you watch Edd's statement on why hes leaving the show, he cites the fact that the producers (now Discovery) want to cut out a lot of the scenes where he's actually working on the cars. Those scenes are what made the show great and set it apart from the Ass Monkey and Graveyard clowns where they have to insert inane drama or comedy for its own sake.

I hope Edd gets his own show where he can do what he wants.

Edd WAS the show. There is no reason to watch it without him.

This is actually the only time I've ever complained to a network about one of their programs. What a boneheaded move.

American corporate mentality: take a successful show with a 13 year history, remove all the elements of the show that make it unique and so popular worldwide, cheapen production costs and add product placement, and voila= crap. Every crap American car show ever.

I actually thought the show got worse when they moved from the U.K. to the U.S.
They switched from restoring interesting, sometimes obscure cars the rest of the world hadn't seen before, to doing boring American hot rods we've all seen done a billion times on every other car show ever. (Not knocking the hot rods themselves, but I'd rather watch and learn about the Lancia Delta Integrale, European Escort, or that odd Polish coupe they did once instead of anything I can see at any local small town USA car show.) It's a waste of Edd's talents to see him bolt together another red Camaro.

The plus side is, he will possibly be making something for his YouTube channel, that could be interesting.

Personally, I think it'd be cool if him and James May teamed up for their own show.

I loved how unflappable Edd was on the show. "So, it turns out that the car Mike bought was such a good deal because it will need a new transmission and the frame is all rotted. Loads of work, but a little elbow grease will get it done"

The obscure cars were definitely fun to watch (like that  BMW roadster w the weird doors), but I also did enjoy his take on corvettes, etc. Most other shows are obsessed w building show winners, while WD was more about taking a beater and turning it into a decent driver.  Always appreciated the DIY hacks, like painting panels and the like w a rattle can...the kinda thing a guy on a budget like myself would do (and have done).

And I'm sure the show will drop to 12 minutes of content now and be jammed with commercial bumpers "Next up...." and "Here's a recap...." bullshit.

Well said Ponch!

I like Mike as well, the wife and I always imitate him and his lines " Hold out your hand " or a "cracking motor" but agree that Edd is the real backbone of the show. You do really get a sense of how much work is involved on a given project, especially some of the earlier episodes.

Nice to know that you guys like some of our little UK shows! I understand you also like some of our more "British" shows like Dr Who and Red Dwarf.

Yup.. grew up watching Benny Hill and Monty Python with my father.. ok, maybe it was because of the girls, but still great shows

Also loved to watch Top Gear on BBC, prior to Jeremy Clarkson punching out a producer or whatever  :smilielol:

I grew up in Belgium and watched a ton of UK shows: Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Bottom, Absolutely Fabulous, Are you being served, Porridge, Only fools and horses, Open all hours, and loads more. They don't make them like that anywhere else.

Man I'm gonna miss this show. It had already declined quite a bit once they moved here but it was still better than anything else car related. I can stand Bitchin' Rides for a while, but it's just not the same.

I saw him on Facebook when he went live to announce this. He wants to stick to his guns, and not cheap out on the restorations. This is why I do not like shows like Grease Monkey because I actually want to see part of it being done. Discovery tossed 13 years of a great show in the trash

Well, that sucks.  :flame: :flame:  Must say I agree with the overwhelming sentiment so far. It's gonna be removed from the recording list on the DVR tonight. Another Car show down the crapper..  :flush: :flush: :flush: :flush: :flush: :flush:

Good for Ed sticking to his guns. I'll support him where ever he goes.  :2thumbs:
