Guys - can someone please post a pic of the factory pinion snubber for a 69 with 8 3/4 rear. Seems there are a few different options for the 8 3/4.

Cheers.

Which carrier housing are you referring to...'742 or '489? The pinion snubber brackets differ between them.

I think you can find diff stock pieces ( more flat or not ) due upgrades made along the years for reinforcement but not due the 3rd member number.

Here's a couple of pictures showing the two types of OE pinion snubbers for the 8 3/4" carrier housing. Though they share the same bolt pattern, they are noticeably different. Now I cannot elaborate on whether, during the '69 production year, the pinion snubbers were changed based on a certain date, or whether the change was made when they discontinued using the '742 housing vs. the '489 housing. All I can tell you is EVERY single '742 carrier housing that I have in the shop has the longer pinion snubber and ALL the '489 carrier housings have the shorter design. There are probably 30-40 of each separated on two pallets in the shop. I do believe, as Nacho has stated, since the bolt pattern is the same, that is why we've never seen the aftermarket differentiate between the two. You decide. If you need one, we've got plenty!  :icon_smile_big:

yes, maybe due the year ( diff distance with body ), but not due the carrier. At least what Dr.Diff mentioned on a similar thread at Moparts ( diff years but not carriers ), when I made the search. So I just can say what I have found LOL

since 742 was replaced by the 489 as far I know, then maybe that's the reason why they are different? :shruggy: and the 742 and 489 difference is a coincidence ? :shruggy: I think 742 and 489 never lived together between them. Or did they?
