I have 74 plymouth with built 68 trans, console on floor ,No back up lights, bulbs good, no current to them when I put in R, removed console to see if switch was there, only thing I saw was shift indicator light wiring. jacked up car, checked around linkage side of trans, nothing but the neutral safety swith, which is three (3) wire, is this switch also used for back ups? Thanks.

yes it is

outer pins are for back up lamps, one input powered from acc side of fuse box so then is "hot" inmediatly you feed acc ( key in RUN or ACC ), the other one output to back up lights.

being 68 tranny could it be a problem, cause the the inner cam what switches the light could it be unmatched with the three prongs kind
