i know this is probably a question that has been answered countless number of times but does anyone know the actual paint color they used for the general lee during the TV show? i don't think dodge had an orange color sheme for there 69 chargers.

jaak

from reading on here, the GL was one of 4 colors,,,,

-mopar's hemi orange
-GM's hugger orange
-AMC's Big Bad orange
-Corvette flame red

Maybe some of the experts will chime in

Corvette Flame Red is the consensus. Go to this website and you will find out all you will ever want to know about the General Lee.

I used the 1969 Chevy Hugger orange for mine.   To me it looks like the best.    :Twocents:   But, that's just my taste for the color.   :2thumbs:

EV2 "HEMI ORANGE"....I guess it would all depend on whether you were doing one of the "Pumkin" orange 7th season cars or the first 5 episodes cars..
" I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours researching what works and what doesn't and I'm willing to share"

The factory's Hemi Orange was tried initially but the crew decided that it didn't look as good on film as it did in person.  It looked too dark and too red. So the cars were quickly resprayed with the Corvette orange color early in the Georgia filming.

The rest of the TV series was all done with either the Vette color or something very similar to it.

(If you have ever bought a little "General Lee" 1:25th scale AMT/ERTL plastic model kit, remember how they often come molded in orange plastic right out of the package?  Well I don't know whether it was intentional or not, but that orange plastic on the model kits I've bought has been pretty dead-on to the Corvette color.  Extremely close.)

The 2005 Stifler/Knoxville/Simson movie used AMC 1970 "Big Bad Orange" which is very close to Corvette orange.

Anyone know where I can get some of this EV2 Hemi Orange to paint my Charger?  I dont think that the body shop on base sells it.

I ahve seen a few pics of the various color schemes, but none of them side by side except for BBO and Hemi Orange though.  I will try to dig up the pic, but I recall seeing it on CGLFC forums.

Take a look around the "members rides" section of the CGLFC forum. Plenty of comparison photos to check out. A word of warning though. Whatever shade of orange a GL is painted in, usually looks drastically different in various different lighting. The same car will look nearly red in the shade, but appear to be almost pumpkin orange in bright daylight, so getting a true idea of what shade looks best to you may be a little tricky.
