Man this is one great looking car. The fit and finish are top notch and the color choice couldn't be better. "Show Stopper" will be appropriate when you finally get her rolling. :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA:

So cool!   :2thumbs:

Out of curiosity, I seem to recall hearing that Daytona braces are bolted in like yours, and Superbird braces are welded in.  I understand the braces for Daytonas and Superbirds are the same...but can Superbird braces be bolted in, like the Daytona braces, rather than welded?

I have no idea.

I'm not very familiar with the way the Superbirds are put together.  ;)

Just based on the fact that the "B" body trunk extensions are constructed about the same I would assume there would be no problem bolting instead of weldi

Thank you.

Although, as far as the "show stopper" thing...

I'm not sure how much time this car is going to spend sitting in the hot sun with some old, fat greybeard (me) sitting behind it in a lawn chair. :eek2:

Probably not very much time at all. :scratchchin:

I fitted my NOS locking gas cap to my new reproduction filler tube I got from Van's Auto.

It fit just fine, but at first I couldn't get it to turn, soo...

I disassembled the gas cap, cleaned out the petrified 45 year old grease, lubed everything up,

reassembled everything and...

It still wouldn't turn once it was in the filler tube.  :brickwall:

So...Sticking my finger inside the rim of the filler tube, I discovered a sharp burr...

A few swipes with a small piece of sandpaper and...

All is well.  :coolgleamA:

that's all you did today? Fit a gas cap to filler neck? Need I remind you that some of us here have money on you finishing this car before Stu gets that green turd back on the road.....  :nana:

I also straightened out the "bad bend" in the vent tube.

This was discussed here:

Let me know then if you need someone to drive it to the show, and sit in the lawn chair behind it. I'd be happy to do that for a fellow member  :2thumbs:
