Definitely food for thought. But will that confuse the hell out of us?

Let's leave this one to ws23rt. He's been known to like a challenge.

Come on guys--can't you see whats going on here?

The small output shaft moves in an eccentric motion relative to the center turning of the shaft. Thus it must be for those that need a wiper that makes a circular motion as it rotates. This is to combat those pesky streaks we all dislike. Swirls are much more pleasant to look through when it rains.

The trouble comes from the fact that the engineers didn't add the needed eccentric on the wiper itself so the connecting arms just wobbled instead.
I suspect that some heads rolled in the engineering dept. over this but the bottom line was that no one would notice. (until now).
They then went to a center drive to eliminate the pesky wobble and hoped again that no one would notice down the line.
This is one of those big cover ups that never made the news.  :yesnod:

And no doubt would have stayed covered up right up until I inadvertently uncovered it on discovering nothing fits!

I've got to say it's awfully crowded. I wish some of you would use the top bunks instead.
