I do hate to see deals like this happen.  I've been taken myself, and it's aweful in all respects.  I feel for you, Dfan.

So what is the latest news on this?  Who has what cars at this point?  Any arrest made yet, or pending soon?

I was just gonna leave it at that, but I can't sit on my hands...

SOMETHING JUST AIN'T ADDING UP!

1.  Someone offers to trade a Challenger R/T that they owe five grand on for your daytona (clone or not..its still worth more than a used '09 challenger...which is not even the top-of-the-line model... that someone owes five grand on).

2.  They bring this Challenger to you, which you test drive.

3.  you open the hood, and on the engine sits an engine cover from a Chrysler 300 (which should have been rattling like a motherfucker if it was just sitting on top of it).

4.  you manage to trade for a car that does not even belong to the guy trading it to you and without verifying the outstanding balance on the loan.

Something tells me that there is a hell of a lot more to this story than both parties are letting on.

I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

I can't speak for Dfan

but sometimes money is not always the last consideration. I have a low 11 sec n/a smallblock drag car that i have over 9k in the drivetrain alone. Over 15k invested in all. In all it cost me around 25k with purchase price. I'd easily take 5k worth of AMD metal that i need and $2000 cash to buy interior parts with.

I'd be getting 7k for something that cost me 25k. Sure its not a daytona clone, but maybe Dfan had a real hankering for a rag top challenger  :shruggy:

Hey Dodge Fans, Thanks for the support--although I cannot discuss the case any further--some are missing the point--It's not that I'm not extremely pissed off--or that I DON'T have a plan--but right NOW--I'm the only one that has NOT committed a CRIME --I am not going to complicate law enforcements pursuit of Chris Houg at this time-- :rotz: :rotz: :rotz:--This crook and his friends need jail time :2thumbs:

dfan, wish i would have found this forum sooner. could have saved you a lot of time and money. chris houg makes his living scamming and has done it for years. i can give you at least 25 names of victims i have ran across since he got me for 10k back in 2001.

forget the law, nothing will happen to him. don't take the law to help you get your car back. chris will lie and say you owe him money for restoring it for you. he has done that before also. google his name. he scams in real estate also. check pissedconsumer.com.

email me and i'll give you all of his addressess, aliases, other victims, his ss#, criminal, civil, and bankruptcy case #'s, wife and 2 daughter's names (you can see them on facebook), mother's name and address plus alot more.

he mostly scams dodge people but he delve's in mercury and other makes i'm sure. i have a list of about 20 different ebay names he has used in the past. he recently tried to sell a fake 69 runner modtop, (plymouth which he claims was special ordered with a dodge modtop) you will see that one when you google his name on the modtopregistry hit.

you have no idea what kind of misery you are going to experience taking the route you're taking to try and re-coup your loss. the fbi took my case in 2001, talked to him, said they knew he was a b.s artist and 5 years later finally told me the case was no longer active. i'm in alabama so chris is a long way away but i still plan to visit him one of these years. you are alot closer so, well, you do what you think is right but i'm telling you, there is only one way you will get your car back and it is not going thru the legal channels.

as i said, email me and i think you will see this in a whole different light.

i dont know this guy, but i hate him already.

Hello charger fans--even though I don't post as much right now,I still check in alot. Not just this post--but all of the topics. This is a great site with alot of outstandingly talented members. Some progress is being made in the investigation. Thanks for the support hiwayvigilante & RD---hiway,I will contact you thanks. RD--I totally agree with your sentiments and valuation. This is a BIG site for mopar enthusists of all kinds and growing. I'm sure that we are making it harder for Chris Houg to scam others and profit from it. IT IS NOT a shining moment for law enforcement yet--BUT I personally know several who ARE working on it !  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

hiwayvigilante

hey dfan,

just got a call from the young lady that you spoke with about chris houg. she sounds like a very nice person and it is a shame chris got her for $36,000. it proves he will use any make, not just mopar to steal from anyone he can get to trust him.

for the rest of you guys, this young lady bought a 59 impala on ebay that chris was selling. fully restored original #'s matching, get in it and drive it away beautiful car as chris put it. unfortunately, not even close. non-original junk motor with water in it from sitting in a junk yard. trans is krap as well as the rest of the car. same as the one i bought i expect. no dash, no seats, no carpet, nothing in the engine compartment but a junk block not even bolted in, 1 bolt holding the 741 rear end on the car which was supposed to be a dana, more bondo than metal, no lights, bumpers, well, i think you get the picture.

this lady bought the car as a present for her husband. when it arrived, she called the impala specialist whoever that is in CA and before she could say much, he said, let me guess, you got it from chris houg.

just wanted to post this to back dfan up and say, do not deal with this guy on anything. if you do, you will be taken.

hope the law enforcement guys are getting somewhere with your case dfan and i assume you have told them about this lady also. give us an update when you can.

thanks, hiway

Someone will eventually end it with a bullet in his head when he scams the wrong person.
