I'd insert a picture or two, but this site makes it impossible for me.     ::)

In London huh, what does gas cost there?

JMF

I think about £1.60 for V-Power unleaded at the moment

My cars are not driven too often so the petrol prices have never bothered me too much as they are just a nice weather weekend car etc

I cycle to work so I do my bit for the planet that way 😀

lloyd3

JMF: Thank you for that.

Making that '68 fit rural British roads must be darn interesting. What do the other Brits think of your car? Do you ride your bicycle just to atone for your V-8 musclecar sins? I suspect that would require a lot of peddling (it certainly would in my case).

Let's see, 1.60 (per Pound Sterling) per liter (I assume) so... that translates (1 liter is 0.264 gallons so 3.8 liters/gal) means that you're paying $6.40 per US gallon.

Not much worse than California these days, eh?  I think I just paid $3.80 for premium unleaded here in Colorado 2-days ago.

To be honest the Charger is not much bigger than a 5 or 7 series BMW so all good

JMF: Well, I'll be in both Ulster & Dublin next week so... maybe I can get a sense of the scale of things there for myself.

One of my favorite shots of my car from a few summers ago now (still with the last set of 14-inch rims/tires).

looks great, what color blue is that?

lloyd3

The paint code on the car is UU-1, but...I think it's been changed to more-resemble a later color (a 1970 Ice blue, B3?). UU-1 normally seems more like a very light turquoise to me, this variation has more silver and no green.

29-years ago (when I bought this car) it had been changed, well-before my time with it (professionally, very little evidence of the original UU-1 remaining) to this color. When I repainted in 2012, I kept it this color (I was used to it by then).

A year ago, or so , I saw a 1970 Roadrunner with this exact color at a local car show. It looked good in it too.

That looks B3 to me.  Had a 69 that color!  :2thumbs:

An older picture (I'm sorry) but fitting as it is supposed to be winter here (it isn't at the moment).

This is reminding me that it needs a tune-up now (points and plugs) before I can really enjoy it again this coming Spring.  I'll have to relearn how to use my dwell meter and my timing light I guess?  The old Prestolite dual-point in the car has been really dependable (for so many years now) but...I always hesitate to mess with it as it can be surprisingly cranky to get set up properly.

I'm also guessing that the parts (points, condenser, rotor, etc.) are getting a bit harder to source (although I've been carrying spares around for years).

Hi Folks,              09 Feb 2026

In my humble opinion the Dodge Chargers, 1968 - 1970's, are the most beautiful cars to ever have hit the Highways.

I see cars while on the road and haven't a clue as to who made them. Most look like potatoes. Fortunately, they haven't totally destroyed our trucks.

Long live the Chargers, the folks that have them, and those that wish they did.

Best Always

Man, I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard and really wanted a 1969 model. I saw Bullitt after I had already formed an attachment to the 1969 styling.
I bought my first 1970 Charger in 2000, the second one in 2019. Within a month of owning my first one, I changed my stance. The 1970 was #1 for me from then on with the 1968 running a close second. The open grille design is just cool. The 1968 taillights are fantastic too.
You can't really go wrong with any of the '68-70 Chargers. To pick a favorite is like picking a favorite of these:
